¡Qué ganas tenía de hacer esta entrada! Por primera vez en mi vida como escritor, un libro mío, «El destino de Tamarán: Los reinos incógnitos», aparece en un blog de literatura junto a una reseña.
No os podéis imaginar la emoción mientras la leía, los nervios… y la satisfacción de comprobar que a la autora del blog, Laura Contrera Hernández, de Mi vida entre libros, le gustó tanto la historia, la ambientación y los personajes de Tamarán.

Tras más de ocho años desde que tuve la primera idea, hoy puedo decir que la publicación de “El destino de Tamarán: Los reinos incógnitos” está a la vuelta de la esquina.
Tras el envío, anoche, de las correcciones del tercer borrador que me envió la editorial (con muy poquitos errores ya), mi genial editor me quiso hacer el regalo de enviarme la primera versión de la portada justo antes de irme a dormir.
No sé si será la definitiva al cien por cien, pero, si no es así, el cambio será mínimo.
Solo puedo, una vez más, darle las gracias a Diego Iturriaga, mi editor, a la maquetadora, que está haciendo un trabajazo, y decir que me encanta cómo está quedando todo y que si, hasta ahora, había controlado bien los nervios… ¡a partir de ahora soy incapaz de controlarlos!

After more than eight years since I had the first idea, today I can say that the publication of “The destiny of Tamarán: The incognito kingdoms” is around the corner.
Last night, after sending the corrections of the third draft that my publishing house sent to me (with just a few mistakes), my amazing editor wanted to make me a present and he emailed me the first version of the cover right before I went bed.
I don’t know if this one will be the last one, but, if not, not much will be changed.
I just can say, once again, thanks to Diego Iturriaga, my editor, and the designer, who is making a huge effort. I can add that I love the way it looks so far and that, if I have been able to control my nerves until this moment… I can’t make it from now on!

¡Ya estoy de vuelta!
Esta entrada va destinada a disculparme, a contaros cómo va el proceso de “El destino de Tamarán” y a comentaros cositas sobre el blog.
Lo primero, pediros perdón por la tardanza en retomar el blog. La última revisión del libro me supuso un esfuerzo ingente y, entre eso y otras obligaciones, necesitaba descansar un poco.
En cuanto a Tamarán, tal y como quería, dejé todo enviado antes de que terminara el mes de enero (libro revisado, ilustraciones, textos para la contra, biografías, agradecimientos…), así que ya solo queda esperar a que maqueten e impriman. Os daría una fecha, pero prefiero ser cauto y avisaros cuando ya sea definitiva (sorry!).
Este tiempo también lo he empleado en pensar cómo puedo mejorar el blog. Siguiendo consejos y espiando algunos a algunos blogueros tengo algunas ideas (reseñas, algún vídeo, consejos literarios…). Quiero intentar hacerlo más atractivo para vosotros, así que espero acertar.
Nada más por el momento. Os iré informando de las novedades sobre Tamarán, que ya está a punto de caramelo ¡y aún no me lo creo!

I am back!
I am using this post to apologize with you, to tell you about how “The destiny of Tamarán” goes and to share with you some things about the blog.
First, please forgive me for taking such a long break. The last revision of the book has been exhausting and due to some other obligations, I needed to relax for a little while.
About Tamarán, just as I wanted to do, I sent it all before February (book, illustrations, texts for the cover, biographies, appreciations…), so now we just need to wait until it gets edited and printed. I would love to give you a date, but I prefer to be careful and wait until I’ve got something definitive.
I’ve used this break also to think about how to improve my blog. Following some advices and spying some other bloggers I’ve got some ideas (reviews, some videos, writing advices…). I want to try to make it catchier for you, so I hope I can make it.
Nothing else so far. I will keep you updated about Tamarán, I can’t wait to have it with me!

Después de poco (o mucho) tiempo, ya has puesto punto y final a tu libro. ¡Enhorabuena! Y, también, mis condolencias. “¿Por qué, si ya he terminado?” Siento deciros que no, que no habéis terminado ni mucho menos. Es más, os queda la que es (al menos para mí) la peor parte: las revisiones y/ o correcciones.
Antes, como una recomendación, os digo que no os lancéis a revisar nada más terminarlo, especialmente si es un escrito largo. Dejadlo reposar y, sobre todo, dejad que vuestras neuronas reposen. Mientras, podéis seleccionar a algunas víctimas que lean vuestra historia y que hagan de un primer filtro. Podrán apuntar errores que encuentren, haceros preguntas o comentarios que os ayuden a cambiar algunas partes o que, simplemente, os digan qué les parece. Con todo eso, os será mucho más fácil volver a sentaros al teclado.

After a bit (or a lot) of time, you’ve written the final dot in your book. Congratulations! And, also, my comdolences. «Why? I’ve said I have finished!» I am afraid to tell you that you haven´t, you haven´t finished at all. Furthermore, you still have to do the (unless for me) worst part: revision and/ or correction.
Before so, as a recommendation, I ask you not to start right after you have finished. give it a rest and, more important, give your neurons a rest. In the meantime, you can select some victims to read your story and to be the first filter. They can spot some mistakes, make you some comments or questions that will help you to change some parts or, simply, they can tell you what they think about it. With all that, it will be much easier to come back to the keyboard.

Estás escribiendo con cierta asiduidad, parece que todo va bien pero, sin esperártelo, te viene el bloqueo y no sabes cómo continuar.
Aquí importa saber qué tipo de escritor eres. Puede que seas un escritor de brújula, es decir, que escribas la historia del tirón sin haber planificado antes; o puede que seas un escritor de mapa y que, antes de ponerte a escribir, hayas planificado cada detalle de la historia de la forma más minuciosa posible.
Si eres de los que planifican, estos bloqueos te ocurrirán menos o, de ocurrir, tendrás más fácil solventarlos. En cambio, si no tienes detalles de lo que va a ocurrir, comprobarás que te bloquearás incluso más de una vez.
¿Consejos? Muchos, me temo. Como ya os dije, yo escribí “El destino de Tamarán: Los reinos incógnitos” sin mapa y con una brújula recién adquirida y sin manual de instrucciones, así que me bloqueé en varias ocasiones. ¿Qué hice? Dejar que la historia reposara para, desde “lejos”, seguir pensando en ella. Hay veces en las que estar metido en medio de la tormenta nos impide ver las gotas de lluvia. Desde esa distancia, es más sencillo aclararse. Mientras pensáis, leed. Buscad historias que entren en el género que estáis escribiendo (a mí me vinieron genial las “Crónicas de Elric de Melniboné”, de Moorcock, y “La historia interminable”, de mi querido Ende). Buscad también blogs que os puedan ayudar, que nunca está de más. Por último, si veis que esa no es vuestra forma de escribir, pensad en haceros expertos en mapas… ¡Puede que sea la solución!

You are writing with some assiduity, it seems like it is working but, without even expecting so, you get a mental block and you don’t know how to keep writing.
Now is when we see the kind of writer you are. You can be a compass writer, so you write the story all at once without planning anything; or you can be a map writer and, before starting to write, you plan every single aspect of the story.
If you are in the second group, these blocks will happen less frequently or, in case they happen, it will be easier for you to sort them out. If you haven’t got any details of what will take place in your story, you will find these blocks quite often.
Advices? Many, I am afraid. As I told you, I wrote “The destiny of Tamarán: The incognito kingdoms” without any maps and with a just acquired compass without instructions, so I got blocked several times. What did I do? Leave the story breathe and, from “ouside”, keep thinking about it. Sometimes being in the middle of the storm doesn’t allow us to see the drops or rain. From the distance it is easier to see it clear. While you are doing this, read. Find stories with something to do with yours (I really appreciated reading “Elric of Melniboné’s chronicles”, by Moorcock, and “The neverending story”, by my beloved Ende). Find some blogs as well, it can help very much.
Last, but not least, if you find out that being a compass writer is not your thing, think about becoming experts on maps… It can be the solution!

Hay algunas personas que consideran que la literatura juvenil-fantástica no debería compararse con la literatura «tradicional». Yo me pregunto, ¿por qué? ¿Qué diferencias tan grandes existen? ¿El público al que se dirige? ¿El tipo de escenarios? ¿Los personajes? ¿Los argumentos?
Si la literatura es el «arte que emplea como instrumento la palabra», ¿por qué ha de ser un género más o menos literatura que otro?
Quizás sea que el éxito abrumador que sagas como Harry Potter, Crepúsculo, Los Juegos del Hambre o, yéndonos a lo nacional, Memorias de Idhún lo que «enfada» a aquellos cuya opinión no es positiva acerca de la fantasía. No hablamos solo de los libros. Cualquier saga que se digne (a excepción de lo escrito en España, aunque no se entienda) tiene sus películas, igual o más de exitosas. ¿Qué me decís de Juego de Tronos? Fantasía pura y dura, brujas y dragones incluidos, y millones de personas leyendo los libros y/o viendo la serie (que es espectacular, todo sea dicho). ¿No es esto literatura?
Siempre desde la humilde opinión de quien intenta hacerse un hueco como escritor infantil-juvenil, os digo que lo es. Mientras he estado escribiendo El destino de Tamarán he podido experimentar lo que significa escribir un libro, escribir literatura y, aunque mis libros cuenten con criaturas y mundos fantásticos, animales que hablan u otros elementos fantásticos, el proceso, la intención y el resultado son los mismos que si escribiera sobre algo real.
Por todo esto, a los que piensan que la literatura fantástica es un género menor, los invito a que se olviden de los prejuicios y lean alguno de estos libros con el único propósito de disfrutar la lectura porque, al fin y al cabo, eso es lo que buscamos en un libro, ¿no?

There are some people who think that fantasy and young literature should not be compared to “traditional” literature. I wonder, why? What are the huge differences between them? The target? The kind of scnearios? The characters? The plots?
If literatura is the “Written works, especially those considered of superior or lasting artistic merit”, why should it be a minor genre?
Maybe is the extremely success of sagas as Harry Potter, Twilight, The Hunger Games or, talking about Spain, Memorias de Idhún what upsets those whose opinions about fantasy is not that positive. We are not talking just about books. Each saga has its own movies (with the exception of those written in Spain, even if it has no sense at all), with the same success. What about Game of Thrones? Pure fantasy, witches and dragons included, and millions of people reading the books and/or watching the tv show (amazing, by the way). Isn’t it literature?
Always from the humble opinión of one who is trying to find his place as a kids and Young writer, iI say it is. While I have been writing El destino de Tamarán I have had the chance of experimenting what writing a book means, writing literature and, even if my books have fantastic creatures and worlds, animals that are able to talk or any other fantastic elements, the process, the goal and the result are the same ones as if I was writing about something real.
Because all that, to those who think that fantastic literature, I invite them to forget about prejudices and to read some of these books with the only purpose of enjoying the reading because, at the end, this is what we look for when we read a book, isn’t it?
